Celebrate the Overture to the

Summer Season New Orleans Style

Juleps in June is the Pirate's Alley Faulkner Society's annual overture to the summer social season and fundraiser. Each year the event takes place early in June and features mint juleps served in traditional silver julep cups. Each guest is presented with a julep cup engraved with Juleps in June and the year as a special souvenir. Many Society members and friends have collections which include cups from each year.

Each year, the Society selects a residence with a lovely garden and an interesting history for the event. The Honorary Chair each year is a socialite and volunteer activist in the cultural arena of Louisiana. We cordially invite you to join us for:

Juleps in June, 2010
Honorary Chairs for Juleps in June, 2010 are Yvonne Lafleur Walsh, owner of the Yvonne Lafleur Boutique, an uptown emporium catering to women who prize unique, romantic apparel for special occasions, and entrepreneur James C. Walsh. Mr. and Mrs. Walsh and their children are active patrons of the arts in New Orleans, who work to ensure that the rich cultural life of the city maintains its lively diversity.

Juleps in June, 2010 will take place at their residence, Number Seven Audubon Place. Audubon Place residences have been featured in many national magazines and Audubon Place has been described as one of the 20 best places in America to live.

Number Seven, once the residence of the Jahnke family, is the oldest house on Audubon Place and, although it has been renovated to provide a modern kitchen and other conveniences for a large family, the exterior of the residence retains its original character. The late Victorian mansion with its expansive, columned front porch, tall windows and fitted shutters, large rooms with high ceilings and cove moldings, and grand staircase beautifully represents the special elegance and gracious living of neighborhoods in Uptown New Orleans. Joseph Parino, Juleps in June, 2010 will be the first time the house has been opened to the public. Ticket prices will be $175 per person, including Mint Juleps made the way William Faulkner like them and served in traditional Julep cups. The cups, engraved with Juleps in June, 2010, will be favors for those attending the event, which. also will include open bar, a gourmet buffet by Palate New Orleans, and music. The front porch at Number Seven Audubon Place provides a delightful place to sit with its expansive front lawn and view on lovely neighboring residences, while the side entrance at Number Seven Audubon reveals a romanic side garden and the sunroom terrace with fountain
